5 Positive/ 5 Negative
So this is the second time I've written this seeing as I somehow managed to lose the original copy. The blog is in itself a good idea in that it provides us a simple way to learn the language. We can use it to not only communicate with people who speak language fluently, but also can use it to learn from other friends who are at the same level of spanish speaking as we are. Further, the blog can be used as a way to turn in homework from anywhere at any time, even if out of the country. Finally, the blog, as a writing medium, can be used to help us in our written spanish, and through our written spanish, our spoken spanish.
Unfortunately, like any assignment, the blog does have some negative aspects. While we can access our friends blogs to learn from their mistakes, people can also use our blog to copy work. As it is an internet based assignement, there are of course a wide range of strange and terrible people who could leave comments on the blog. The blog also leaves a large amount of the work in the hands of the students, and as such whether work is done or not seems to be much more in the hands of the students. Another problem is with the internet, as given the less than good performance of etisilat, it is likely that in our times of greatest need, our internet will fail. Finally, there are problems with the site itself. As we have seen in the recent crash of the blog, resulting in a mass loss of published articles, technology is not always the best way to go about day to day work.
